    Who is it for?

    Low to moderate-income families looking to purchase their first home within Chenango or Broome County who need assistance in learning the real estate process and available financing opportunities.

    • Finding the right lender and the lending process
    • Help in choosing the right house
    • What to expect at closing
    • Assistance with funding/grants: Depending on the current availability on grant funding, there may be a variety of grants available to assist you with the down payment, closing costs, and/or rehabilitation associated with health and safety concerns on the purchase of your first home. Eligibility varies based on the grant for which you are submitting an application.
    • You will be eligible to work individually with a Housing Counselor to develop a homeownership plan
    • We will help you review your finances, determine price range, create a savings program and focus on any credit issues
    • We will teach you the best practices to maintain credit worthiness, so that you can qualify for a mortgage
    • Our counselors work with you for as long as you need until you achieve your goal of homeownership

    The Federal Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutritious foods to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and children up to age 5. In addition to providi... READ MORE

    Who is it for?

    Pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and children up to age 5 who need financial assistance in getting nutritious foods. Eligibility is based on income and a family of 4 may earn up to 51,338 annually and receive WIC benefits.

    How does this benefit you?

    • Receive food benefits redeemable at the local grocery store for milk, bread, cheese, yogurt, eggs, peanut butter, brown rice, beans, juice, and cereal- Click here to learn more about eWIC
    • Infants may receive formula, jars of baby food, and cereal
    • Families receive nutrition education and referrals to other resources within the community
    • Assistance and follow-up interaction for breastfeeding mothers
    • Enjoy fresh produce and fruits when you receive checks to be cashed at local Farmers' Markets
    • Learn how to prepare fresh produce at the WIC office

    Families and individuals who are living in poverty who are looking to grow and become independent members of our community and self-sufficient in all areas of life.    

    How does this benefit you?

    • Receive counseling services on how to obtain and maintain healthy lifestyle that include case management, life skills education and training, and employment skills training. 
    • Get permanent housing assistance
    • Learn about health, finances, employment, and socialization
